My Gifts Are Not Free!

I have a confession. I have always struggled with charging for my services, products and even live events. I personally thought I had to wait until I perfected EVERYTHING before I could charge for ANYTHING. Well this thinking has definitely cost me more harm than helped.

I have decided to adapt the mindset of most cab drivers. NO MATTER HOW FAR A CAB TAKES YOU, HE TURNS ON HIS METER. I can remember attending an event where I stood in heels for hours. Afterwards I had to walk 1 block to my car. My feet hurt so bad, that I couldn't make the walk. So you know what I did? I flagged down a cab. When I got into the cab and pointed to my car, do you think he said "don't worry about it, this ride is on me?" No! He turned his meter on and proceeded to charge me $3.50 for my 1 block ride!
May seem like a corny comparison but cab drivers understand their worth and they are willing to make you pay for it, even if it's $3.50.

Now let me be completely honest, I have also expected individuals to provide services for me for free or swipe/barter services. However, I now have a new mindset. I will PAY you for your services and in return I will expect for you to PAY me for mine! If I can't afford you, then I will not obtain your services, simple as that! No more explaining my situation and hoping you can "Work With Me." This is no longer personal...this is BUSINESS. And truth be told, I am way to gifted and talented for MONEY to be one of my CURRENT issues.

Lastly, I was doing some research on my Public Speaking Consultanting Firm and came across this quote: " I never recommend a presenter working with a consultant that offers their services for free because any professional that works for free is worth just that, nothing."

Now some of you may disagree and I'm completely okay with that, but as for me and my gifts and talents I will NO LONGER BE GIVING AWAY FOR FREE!!

If any of you struggle with charging, I hope this message has helped you! NO MORE FREE STUFF!!!!!!
